GOLF BALL
Introduction:
The game of golf is played with a specific ball known as the golf ball. The Rules of Golf declare that, the golf ball needs not to be weigh above 45.93 grams. The ball’s diameter also needs to be below 42.67 mm. The figure of the ball needs to be equal to the shape of a symmetric sphere. The United States Golf Association and the Ancient and Royal Golf Club of St Andrews examine the golf balls thoroughly, after which the balls can be utilized in the game. The balls that are not approved by these associations are not approved for the golf game The force that lasts only for a fraction of millisecond on the ball when it is stroked decides the launch angle, spin rate and the speed of the ball, all these factors determines the path of the ball as well.
History:
Till the invention of the featherie ball, wooden balls were utilized for the golf game in the 17th century. The transformation of the golf ball provided a thrilling characteristic to the game of golf. The featherie ball was created with the feathers of goose and was a manually stitched cowhide bag layered with paint. Initially, the feathers of goose were boiled and placed in a cowhide bag. Further to make the ball a bit solid, the bag was cooled for a certain period of time for the expansion of feathers and the cowhide would contract making the ball solid. The featherie ball’s excellent flight features helped the standard ball to last for more than two centuries. |
