GOLF DIGEST

Introduction:

As the name suggests, Golf Digest is a golf magazine that is published on a monthly basis in the United States. The publisher of Golf Digest is Advance Publications. Golf Digest is the generalist publication of golf sports, which covers the women’s and men’s competitive golf as well as recreational golf. In addition, Advance Publications also publish the more specialized magazines such as Golf World, Golf World Business and Golf for women. From the year 1985, Golf Digest has begun to produce “Americas 100 Greatest Golf Courses”. This is done on a two year basis. Panels of numerous golf courses in hundreds come to vote for the top most golf courses. Except the year 2001, the Pine Valley Golf Club was voted as the topmost golf club. In the year 2001, it was the Pebble Beach Golf Links that was declared as the winner. Apart from that, “Golf Digest” also produces a brief list of the best new golf courses, the best golf courses in each US State as well as the best golf resorts. Prior to the introduction of the “Greatest” ranking” in the year 1985, the Golf Digest also used to produce “America’s 100 Greatest Tests of Golf” and “America’s 100 most testing Courses”.

Miscellaneous:

Apart from featuring the Golf courses in the United States, “Golf Digest” also compiles a list of golf courses outside the boundaries of the United States. This is mostly done using the database from the National Golf Associations, in addition to the panel votes. Apart from that, some additional panels which have international knowledge about the golf courses outside the United States are also allowed to vote and then a list is prepared.
