GOLF RULES AND REGULATIONS
Introduction:
The rules and regulations of golf are standardized on an international basis and are governed in combination by an organization found in the year 1754, named the “Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A) and the USGA or the United States Golf Association. Thanks to the R&A agreement, the jurisdiction of the USGA on the interpretation and the enforcement of the rules are limited to the nations of Mexico and the United States. The golf associations of other nations utilize the rules that are mentioned by the R&A. In Addition, there are formal procedures which can refer any doubtful point to the R&A.
Rule Principle:
“Fairness” is the main principle which underlies the rule for the game of golf. The back cover of the rule book for golf is to “play the ball as it lies”. The first and the foremost rule in the rulebook of golf states, that each and every player is obliged and entitled to the playing of golf ball from the location of its coming to rest as a result of the stroke. These until such time as the rules permit otherwise. The second basic rule involved is that, no assistance can be sought by the specific golf player while making a stroke. In addition the rules clearly mention that, the ground condition or any such thing which give an unfair advantage to a particular golf player cannot be entertained at all costs, unless otherwise mentioned in the rules. The replacement of the golf ball can only be done in those cases when the golf ball stands destroyed. |
