GOLF SCORING

Introduction:

Golf Scoring forms an essential part of the golf sport. In each type of the golf play, the main goal involved in the game of golf is the playing of few strokes for each round. In case of a condor or a vulture, 4 points are awarded. In case of Albatross, three points are awarded. The Eagle and birdie yield 2 and 1 point respectively. The stroke play and the match play are the two major types of golf play. In case of the score hinting of 8 shots taken for a particular hole, the term “snowman” is used. In case of match play the two teams or the two players have to play each hole against each other as a segregate contest. The party which has the least score goes on to win the hole. In case the scores of both the teams and the players are tied, the game is drawn or halved. The party which has more holes as compared to the other gets to win the game of golf. In the event of one player or a team taking the lead more than the number of holes to be played, then that party is considered to have won the match. In such instances, the remaining holes are not played.

Miscellaneous:

In the event that a team already has a lead of more than six holes with only five holes left to be played, then the match is considered to be over. In case of the lead becoming equal to the number of holes left, the match is considered as “dormie”. The game is continued till such time, as the leader of the game increases the lead by one more hole to win the match or till such time as the end of the match comes to a tie.
